What is Desktop Resetter?

Desktop Resetter is a simple program used to remember the icon and window locations and sizes on the desktop. This information can be recalled at a later time.

This is good if you play games or change resolutions frequently. It is also useful since some programs tend to either change resolution or somehow cause things on the desktop to scatter randomly. Crashing can also cause desktop items to splatter.

Now you won't have to withstand this unfortunate and annoying problem. Simply layout the desktop how you like it and 'Remember' the desktop's current setup.

Should it get screwed up one way or another, just launch Desktop Resetter and 'Reset' the layout. In an instant, the windows and their sizes will snap back to the way they were, as will the icons.

A nice benefit of Desktop Resetter is that it is very fast. You can keep a copy of it handy in the Apple menu or on the Desktop so that you can easily launch it and remember or reset the desktop instantly.

Desktop Resetter is an application only, it uses no extensions or control panels. This means that there is no way it can conflict with other programs, it only operates when you launch it and doesn't effect other applications other than the Finder itself (the desktop application).

Desktop Resetter 2 introduces support for popup windows (OS 8 or higher). It can now remember their sizes and positions so they can be restored later on. This is very helpful, these windows tend to be unintentionally reorganized frequently.

Desktop Resetter works with MacOS 7.1 and higher, and it does support MacOS 9! It actually works faster on OS 9b2 than on OS 8.6!

Desktop Resetter 2 only supports PPC macs (especially G3 or G4's). It is recommended that 68k users download the 1.2.1 version from the site. If you are a 68k user and want me to write a 68k version 2, please email me! The program needs OSL and the Appearance Manager if you are using System 7.x (both come with OS 8 or higher). These items can be downloaded from Apple. Please email me if you can't find them, and I'll show you.
